My Students
How cute are my little ones? I have the opportunity to educate these young minds, and I couldn't be any more excited! My students are a part of our elementary community, being one of five Kindergarten classrooms, serving in a high-poverty area where 100% of our students receive free meals.
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it's not." - Dr. Seuss
Our school is a wonderful learning community, however, the struggle lies with providing our students with the classroom resources they deserve! Our school is a School of Mathematics, dedicated to providing students with rigorous and meaningful learning opportunities, and is continually looking for ways to enhance not only the educational experience for every child but also extending the same love and support into their daily lives beyond "these four walls". In fact, that is this Kindergarten teacher's mission, and this is where it starts. With varying skill sets, ways of learning, home environments, and access to technology, these Kindergarten kiddos are in need of nourishment through education.
Thank you for donating to my classroom as it contributes to positively impacting these little lives! It is truly appreciated!
My Project
Our Kinder students have started their journey to becoming fluent readers. Our scholars have entered their first year of school with varying exposure to letters, their sounds, sight words, and print concepts. It is our hope to build phonological skills by interactive and engaging activities that will also allow differentiation throughout lessons.
"Reading is dreaming with open eyes".
To spark our scholars interest in reading, we would love to use the interactive journals. Each student will work hands on, using their knowledge of letter and sounds to build words within word families and so much more. The sight word journals will allow students to practice print concepts as a clas while providing focus words for the week and a mix review of CVC and other sight words.
The Scholastic Magazine subscriptions will provide students with a hard copy and a digital copyof Science and Social Studies themed magazines monthly. The subscriptions feature nonfiction texts to get the students excited about learning, fascinating videos to help build their knowledge, and access to interactive educational games so students can show what they have learned in the subjects of Science and Social Studies.
With these resources in the classroom, we are certain our scholars will be immersed in grade level texts in no time. The exposure to fiction and nonfiction texts will spark their interest in reading!
