Help me give my students access to the news on their reading level. My students have never read from a magazine like Scholastic News before and this will be a great resource for them.
My students live in the very diverse neighborhood in Queens. They attend a NYC public school in Kew Gardens. Some of my students come from low-income families. They are extremely hard-working and creative 2nd graders. Each and every day they give their all. They enjoy working in groups and helping each other in their learning journey. Engagement is the key to success.
My Project
This resource is a print and digital resource. After a year and a half of learning digitally I’d like to give my students a print rich resource. Our curriculum focuses on both fiction and non-fiction texts and this will be a great resource for my students. The real life connection and topics always interested the children so they will be more engaged. The additional resources that Scholastic provides like comprehension questions will help expose my students to a variety of questions to help them prepare for the NYS exams in third grade. I think my students will love receiving these weekly magazines!
