My Students

My school has wonderful students who are full of potential but needs the proper tools to pull it out of them. I teach ELA to 6th and 7th grade students who hates writing. They hate it because they do not possess writing skills that they should have at their grade level. This is evident in their Writing Pre-Assessment that they took at the beginning of the school year. Even though they do not have strong writing skills, you can tell that they are very creative, just by listening to how they respond to certain topics or issues.

My Project

I would love for my students to be inspired to write! If we could get a heavy-duty printer and a compatible laptop, we would be able to start a small newspaper club. I will host a club where the students will practicing their writing skills by creating class newsletters.

They will have to go through the writing process to create a newsletter and their writing will be approved by an "editor".

Once the writing is approved, the students will be clear to type, create, and print their class newsletters. This will be a learning experience for the students and will aide in improving their writing skills. It will also keep them informed on what is going on around school.
