it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a low income/high poverty school in Los Angeles. At my school 100% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. Many of them are second language learners. Despite there circumstances they are eager to learn and discover the world around them.
They are "the questioners" always try to discover how the world works.
They are inquisitive and always asking questions. My students want to become better readers and writers. They are constantly trying to better their knowledge.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will allow my students to learn about current events. We will be able to discuss what's happening in the world they are living in. It will also provide my students an opportunity to analyze and annotate non fictions articles, which is always a difficult task. The Time for Kids news articles will allow us to practice these skills using high level and high interest articles.
Learning how to become a good writer is a difficult task for any student but it is especially difficult for second language learners.
We will these engaging articles to provide examples and support for our informational writing.
