it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Without a doubt, the journalism program I created at my school several years ago has created some great future journalists.
The students in the journalism program work to produce a print student newspaper, its online website, and the school's yearbook.
The experiences learned in the program have helped them succeed in preparing for college by adhering to deadlines, tightening their writing, and learning to manage multiple projects.
My Project
For this proposal, I am requesting a basic laser printer and an extra toner cartridge to be used in my classroom for the journalism program.
The biggest challenge the program has faced has been a lack of technology -- namely a classroom printer.
Without a working printer in my classroom, students have been unable to print their articles for peer editing or to print their designed page of the yearbook to check before sending to the printer. Often I end up printing things at home, which uses up valuable ink and time. With a classroom printer (and extra toner), students will be able to print information for assignments and articles, as well as their own work.
Having a printer will enable my students to become better reporters, editors, and designers, which will help them not only in college but in life beyond.
