This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My second through fifth grade gifted students are eager learners. They excel in the area of Mathematics and Science. They enjoy inventing, innovating, collaborating, and just plain having fun while they learn.
Living in a low-income area, my students have limited resources for the demands of today's technology-driven education.
They are inquisitive, creative, talkative, innovative, and hungry for knowledge! They love to come to school because they know they have some resources here which they can use to empower their ideas when they plan and create STEM projects and become proficient in state assessments!
My Project
Our district-mandated resources don't always make the grade. They fall short in many areas, especially in math and science. In order to meet the Florida State Standards and gain proficiency in FSA testing, my gifted students need supplemental material such as those found in the Scholastic magazines I am requesting.
Every little bit of information helps my students achieve their highest scores in the FSA (Florida State Assessment).
Having these additional resources will ensure that they have as much information as they can to be prepared to take the rigorous testing they will encounter this year. Although technology is important, reading materials are also essential!
