My Students
And the big bad wolf said,"I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm...Well, what did he say? This is what my students are hearing when they go into the listening center. Our cd read along books have been loved so much that they cannot play without skipping.
My wonderful Kindergarten are from a low socioeconomic background with limited parental involvement.
A few of my students are even bilingual. They love to learn new concepts and are eager to start learning how to read.
My Project
My kindergarten students have a wide range of reading ability. Some can read above level, and some are struggling to read below level books. Research shows children who listen to audio books have improvement in the following areas: concentration, listening and comprehension, vocabulary, and proper pronunciation of words. Acquiring and improving on these skills are an important part of the reading process as well as all areas of academics.
My students who are struggling, are the children who have little to no parental involvement.
Having the CD read along books will allow these particular children to have a better chance in mastering the skills necessary to have academic success. These read along book/Cd's will provide enjoyment for my current students as well as children yet to come.
