Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Technology is moving rapidly and my students need to get on board the technology track! They can be learning so much more with an iPod Touch. The iPods have a multitude of functions which will benefit my students’ learning. They are cameras for photos, video recorders, music players and computers.
My Kindergarteners are active and enthusiastic learners.
Most of them do not have computers at home nor have ever seen an iPod. Most of my students come from low-income families and are English Learners. I work at a Title I school located in the neighborhood where I grew up. My students face many challenges. Most live in apartment buildings and are surrounded by drugs and violence.
My Project
The iPods will be used to take pictures to record my students' kindergarten experiences, record story book readings, listen to audio stories, transfer music from my old CD's (some of which are scratched) and access games to enhance reading and math skills. Students will have access to the iPods by a rotation system throughout the week. I will be able to organize and access music I use on a daily basis for instruction without fumbling through scratched CD's or battling with a testy CD player.
