Extra! Extra! Help Us Read All About It with a Digital Book!
My students need a digital book reader.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Wagner's classroom raised $448
This project is fully funded
The key to helping impoverished children want to read is through the use of technology. I teach third grade in a high need rural community school with teachers and administrators who are consistently trying new ways to reach our students.
Many of our students come from high poverty homes where literacy and education aren't always the first priority. Many of our families work long hours on second or third shifts to make ends meet while our students often must fend for themselves, even as young third graders. I am continuously searching for ways to spark an interest in reading and make kids excited about literature.
My students are always excited when I use technology. The Sony Digital Book is a way for students to read using the latest technological advances. I can hook this device to a projector, television, or computer and read with my students. I can model interaction with text as well as provide opportunities for kids to read books we might not normally have access to. My school does not always have books I need and this device will allow me to download books to read in my classroom within a couple minutes! I am certain this device will hook students into reading.
Your help will encourage children to want to read allowing them to discover the joys and adventures in literature. Literacy is a stepping stone to a better future.
