My students are smart, creative, kind, and happy. My students are in that unique stage between elementary and middle school. They are trying to figure out what direction their lives are headed in at the same time as finding their own voice in the large and loud world.
My favorite thing about our students is how strongly their compassion and desire to learn shine through every day.
We are a largely middle-class school, and our rigorous curriculum standards demand an unrelenting pace and focus from our students every single day. We have high expectations and, to their credit, our students rise to meet those expectations every single day!
My Project
These art supplies will allow each of my students to have their own art journal, and the supplies to create masterpieces. By allowing students to each have their own journals students will learn how to manage their time, express frustration, and joy in new ways. They will be able to keep themselves busy if they finish early. I will be able to teach them specific skills they can practice and doodle to improve their skills.
Students will be able to take claim to their own ideas and see them come to life with these supplies.
They will get to learn about different mediums and how they can be used to not only express their own thinking but demonstrate mastery of subjects in a new way. The containers will help them understand the value and uniqueness of these supplies to make them last all year.
I have seen amazing improvements in students' attention span, reading skills, and ability to express themselves when students have greater and consistent access to drawing and art skills.
