Help me give my students the chance to use art to express their emotions after returning to school since the start of the pandemic.

My Students
I work in a small school in Little Neck, Queens. It is a very quiet neighborhood and is starting to see growth in the number of families that speak English as a new language. I teach English as a new language to students in grades 1-5 who have just passed the NYSESLAT and newcomer ENL students who have just moved from another country to America. Even though some of the students passed the NYS test that says they are now former multilingual learners, they still need a lot of support in learning English and expanding their knowledge on English vocabulary words, just like the current ENL students that I work with.
My school does a lot of STEAM, and besides reading and writing, the ENL students are also definitely interested in exploring language use across different content areas.
I would like them to get the tools they need so they can research things they are curious about. Besides technology, these students need to get a chance to express what they are learning through their creativity. Art is the perfect way to help students adjust to the school setting that they have been away from almost 2 years due to Covid-19.
My Project
These art supplies will help my students express emotions after returning to school for about two years since the start of the pandemic. Many of them can’t describe their feelings using English as that is still a new language to a lot of them. My students will be able to use these art supplies to visually represent the meanings of the English vocabulary words they are learning about in school. These art supplies will benefit my students as most English language learners learn in school through visuals and hands on materials.
