Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
HELP! Capture our precious moments! My students create projects in all content areas. They dance, sing, and role-play books and plays they write. All these activities lend themselves to higher level thinking skills such as evaluate, create, and compare and contrast, yet they are lost in the moment.
My students come from very different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
A handful of students are Standard English Learners while the majority of the class are English Language Learners. Most of the parents are also ELD and have no education beyond primary school. My students love the arts and are very engaged when class work allows them to role-play, create projects, and perform.
My Project
I strongly believe that students need to be exposed to a variety of technology and that learning needs to be fun. Imagine the idea of recording your song, play, dance, and/or project. Imagine the excitement in my classroom. Students will be extremely motivated in using their creativity to express themselves through dance, music, drama, and/or projects. My students can then view their projects, analyze, plan, and have an opportunity to improve their assignment. I currently post digital photos on our classroom page and I am looking forward to posting their videos so that they can share with family and friends.
My students are very creative and love the arts.
I strongly believe that the camcorders, with a microphone, will only increase their creativity and love of learning. Through the arts, children develop oral language skills, writing skills, and most importantly, increase their self-esteem. Positive self-esteem is the most important impact a project can have on students. Thank you!
