Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school population has changed so much in the past few years. We serve free or reduced-price lunches to over 70% of our population. We have seen an increase in incoming families that have immigrated with very few resources. Our school community relies more than ever on schools to be able to provide resources and materials to all students despite all the budget cuts we have faced.
My Project
My students missed out on having experienced Kinder in person. They missed out on doing many activities in class with their classmates. One of the activities that all children enjoy is making art together, but not just coloring drawings. I want to give my students the opportunity to create and learn different methods of creating art not just with crayons and paper. With clay and paints, we will be creating sculptures that will be attached to our science and social studies curriculum. When we study animal habitats we will be able to create with clay animals from each different animal group, in social studies we will create symbols that represent our state.
