Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have twenty-six Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) students in my classroom, some of which are English learners and all qualify as Title 1 as we are in a large, urban and low income community.
My students are enthusiastic about learning, but come with limited resources.
This has proven to be a challenge espicially now that as of March 17th, my students have been learning at home due to the covid-19 virus.
They have all been putting so much effort into their learning and assigments even though most of my students do not have access to supplies in their home.
My Project
I am very proud of all my students. So many of them have been working extremely hard during this pandemic. Many have become frustrated with not knowing how to navigate through all this that is new to them.
They are exhausted from having to be indoors all day, as many of their parents continue to work.
I want them to have the supplies necessary to have a fun creative activities that will help them escape from the academic work demands and the frustrations of not beig able to see their classmates and teacher.
I would love to be able to provide them with essenials such as pencils and a notebook as well as art supplies to express their frustrations in a healthy manner.
