This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are resilient. They have experienced various challenges along their educational and personal pathways. Their youthful voices are often stifled, and sometimes these scholars feel marginalized. The goal is to prevent the proverbial “school-to-prison pipeline.” Our campus focuses on restorative practices, promoting student agency and retention.

The "Express Yourself" project will be a component of our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum.

It provides a means for youthful voices to be expressed via various platforms, including blogging, podcast productions, digital vision board creations, digital art, etc. The requested technology (MacBook Air 13.3' Laptop, Apple iPad, and Blue Microphones Yeti) will be used to create these projects.

This project reinforces scholars' life-long learning--emphasizing creative expression through writing, photography, and multimedia productions; promoting character development, agency, and holistic healing.

This project cultivates students’ minds; encouraging them to actively engage in thought, expressing ideas, and seeking multiple perspectives. In addition, scholars will be channeling their energy to rigorously exercise their minds--analyzing, interpreting, synthesizing, and evaluating various social issues and culturally relevant matters.
