This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach second grade, at a small neighborhood school in Texas. My class consist of a wide range of academic levels (Special Needs to GT). The majority of my students are on free and reduced lunch. They are provided breakfast everyday with the help from a Federal program. Most of my students come from households with only one income where they struggle to make ends meet. Or are homeless and multi families are living together in one house.
My students deserve the best opportunities possible.
With the help of DonorsChoose.org, I am hoping to provide them with engaging hands-on activities and ways to make the activities accessible to all.
My Project
My classroom has limited access to shared iPads and this requested Apple iPad and case will give more students a chance to practice during math and reading center time. (Dreambox and various math/reading apps).
Currently, 5-6 students have to share one iPad.
The students are engaged when are given the opportunity to express themselves with technology. The students are able to use them to do voice recordings, videos, and photographs to incorporate the technology component into our classroom with apple apps.
This iPad will bring a new meaning to being able to "express ourselves" at our new school.
This will allow my students to be able to use the iPads daily to reinforce the needed skills, that don't have the opportunities at home.
