My Students
“I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.” ― Thomas Edison
It might be hard to imagine but my special education students have so much in common with Edison; they understand what it means to persevere in the face of failure and constantly stay positive.
I have the privilege of working with kids who come to me every day knowing they’re going work, they’re going to stumble, but they’re going to learn.
They do it with a smile on their face because eventually they get their “light bulb” moment. The moment when their faces light up with the pride of understanding and success, it’s amazing to see. My Edisons come from diverse and varied backgrounds, but despite these challenges, they don’t fail. They find 10,000 ways to learn.
My Project
My special education students use dry erase markers every day and across nearly every subject; they love them! And because of this we are always in need of fresh markers. Using dry erase markers with whiteboards and laminated organizers lets my students show what they know in a fun and environmentally friendly way.
Instead of making copy after copy of worksheets, my students are able to use dry erase markers with laminated, structured math organizers to learn new concepts and for fun activities like fact fluency races.
These supplies provide my students the opportunity to repeatedly practice important skills that are challenging for them; helping them to gain independence and confidence as learners.
