My Students
When you think about a Chicago Public Charter School, do you think about gardens? Farmers markets? Organic lunches with vegetarian and vegan options? Chickens? Composting?
Our students are learning how to be mindful leaders who take action both now and in the future to positively impact their communities and the world beyond.
Our innovative and holistic approach to education aims to foster systemic change and inspire the way society educates our future generations.
My students are capable of incredible things as long as they are exposed to the opportunities and experiences that help them develop into well rounded, knowledgable, involved global citizens.
My Project
In 8th grade, we are reading and analyzing Romeo and Juliet. In order to make the experience as authentic as possible, we take on roles and read in small groups. We are also watching the Baz Luhrmann film adaptation and listening to audio versions to get a better idea of what the text is like when it is performed. In order to experience live Shakespearean Theater, we plan to attend the Short Shakespeare adaptation of Macbeth.
This will be the third year in a row that we have taken our 8th graders to the Chicago Shakespeare Theater to experience the wonder of live Shakespearean Theater!
Like students before them, our 8th graders will learn what it is like to watch words on a page come alive in front of their eyes. There is nothing like the thrill of live theater and your donation will help us turn this dream into a reality!
