Exploring Writing With The Write Tools!

Help me give my students double-sided magnetic personal write and wipe boards, a writing center, and a help yourself bookstand to enhance writing and reading in our classroom.

My Students

My first graders are diverse, full of energy, and excited about school! We have a bright, colorful, and engaging room and we look forward to learning and growing as a community each and every day! They are thoughtful and kind to one another and are truly enjoyable to teach!

The students love to share their many daily experiences with me and with others.

They enjoy reading, writing, math, STEM, but most of all talking! They engage in collaborative group work and explore with manipulatives on a daily basis to encourage conversations and to provide hands-on learning.

My Project

First Graders are expected to produce personal narratives, opinion pieces, and informational writing. This is a tall order for students who enter first grade still learning how to form many of their letters! Currently my students are using white boards that are stained, broken, and without lines. Forming their letters correctly and writing more than a sentence is very new to them. Allowing students to use a wipe and write white board with lines makes forming their letters and words correctly much easier. They allow mistakes to be easily fixed as well as provide practice for sentence development. (We can use them for Math too!)

The writing center would allow me to teach my first graders the importance of being an organized student and writer!

It would provide our writing center with the perfect place for organized writing supplies and encourage thoughtful writing during our ELA Workshop time.

Finally, a bookshelf would be the perfect display spot for my students to easily locate our class read-alouds and to read for themselves how good authors write.

This donation would CHANGE our classroom and make it even better!!!
