This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach a college-level craft course, ART-150, which introduces students to a variety of artistic techniques. I would like to incorporate the batik technique—painting with wax and dye on fabric—into our curriculum. While I already have most of the necessary materials, including dyes, fabric, and hoops, I am requesting funding to purchase essential items we lack: batik pens and wax.
This project will allow students to explore the cultural significance of batik in regions such as Indonesia and parts of Africa, where it is a traditional and meaningful art form.
