My Project
My second grade students are curious, bright, and full of questions about the world around them. They love learning about animals, history, science, and especially about other kids from different places. Many of my students come from low-income households and don’t always have access to high-quality reading materials at home. I want to provide them with engaging, relevant, and age-appropriate content to help grow their reading skills and global awareness.
This project will provide a year-long subscription to Time for Kids for my classroom.
Each student will receive their own copy to read in class, take home, and keep. The articles are short, exciting, and written specifically for second graders. They support literacy development, nonfiction comprehension, and critical thinking—key components of the second grade curriculum.
With Time for Kids, my students can read about current events, science discoveries, kids who are making a difference, and so much more. The magazine features rich vocabulary, strong visuals, and activities that help reinforce what they’ve read. It makes reading informational text enjoyable and meaningful.
In a digital age filled with noise, helping students access trustworthy, age-appropriate news is more important than ever. A Time for Kids subscription will empower my students to understand the world and their place in it. It also fosters a classroom culture of curiosity, conversation, and respect for diverse perspectives.
