Exploring the World With Technology

Help me give my students 15 chromebooks in order to access information on their own to complete their assignments and improve their understanding and comprehension of challenging topics in Social Studies.

My Students

My Social Studies students range from grades 6th-8th with a wide level of abilities. They are very active and vibrant and are multi-sensory learners. My focus is to offer them a variety of learning experiences that are rigorous and student-centered. In order to accomplish my goal, I need to offer these students experiences that are intrinsically motivated by technology.

My Project

Technology is the key to allowing my students to open the world to them. These Chromebooks will be used as a means of accessing information and knowledge of other cultures as well as their own by creating independence and self-reliance. Offering them access to these tools will increase their thirst for inquiry and be reinforced with the answers that they are seeking.

Providing my students with technological access to the answers and the independence to do so immediately reinforces learning and their self-confidence.

Our school is in the most wonderful part of Fort Greene Brooklyn in a diverse and vibrant community. It has many points of interest and students are always inquiring about our neighborhood, this technology would allow them to research in a more independent and meaningful manner.
