My students need subscriptions to Scholastic News and Science Spin to help them engage with serious non-fiction, informative magazines. This will help them grow intellectually.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are bright and inquisitive young learners. More than half come from low-income families. They face a variety of challenges. They have different abilities, personalities, and achievement levels. Some also have special needs.
I want all my students to have access to the materials they need, so they feel safe to take risks, face challenges, and grow.
They are excited about the school year and are open to learning new habits. They are a joy to be around and are an amazing bunch of kids!
My Project
Receiving a new issue of a colorful, informative magazine is quite the treat for anyone, but for inquisitive children who love novelty and gifts, these excellent teaching tools will be an exciting adventure!
Each child will receive their own weekly subscription to Scholastic News, helping them engage in learning, build nonfiction-reading skills, and increase important content area knowledge.
Plus, they have an extra bit of learning to take home and share with their families each week.
According to the Scholastic News Grade 2 website:
"We use the most-taught science, social studies, and safety topics to create a multimedia curriculum. We focus on building content knowledge, vocabulary, and nonfiction reading skills. Our magazines get more challenging throughout the school year as children become better readers. Our young readers see themselves in our pages because the magazine reflects the rich diversity of today’s classrooms."
