This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My K-2nd students with Autism are all AUsome! Although, the pandemic has negatively affected them. They experienced too much educational disruption and lost the routines that helped them thrive.
The sensory tools can help my students to have an outlet to calm themselves down and relieve stress when they feel any negative emotions.
It helps them relax and focus while playing naturally. In addition, I use sensory tools as a reinforcement to my students. When they finish their work, they can play with a preferred sensory tool. This helps them to concentrate and focus on completing work, and at the same time teaching them a critical skill of waiting. There are many benefits of using sensory tools to my students, such as improving their social skills, fine/gross motor, self-control skills, etc. Indeed, sensory tools play a huge role in their overall development.
