Exploring the World: Scholastic Learning for Curious Young Minds
Help me give my students access to Scholastic publications to explore the world around them, which builds their critical thinking and literacy skills while they learn about STEAM concepts in a way that sparks their curiosity and excitement!
My PreK–1st grade students are full of wonder, curiosity, and excitement for the world around them. They ask big questions, love hands-on learning, and light up when they make discoveries. Many of my students come from low-income households and face daily challenges, but that never stops them from showing up eager and ready to learn. They need engaging, accessible resources that spark their interest and help them grow into confident readers, scientists, and thinkers.
This project will bring three powerful learning tools into our classroom.
Scholastic Let's Find Out and Science Spin magazines (both print and digital) connect science and social studies content to real-world topics in a developmentally appropriate and exciting way for young learners. The colorful visuals, simple text, and interactive digital features make complex issues easy to understand and fun to explore. They’ll help students build vocabulary, background knowledge, and reading comprehension. The Guided Science Reader Book Sets will provide leveled nonfiction books on key science topics. These will support small-group instruction and independent reading, allowing students to grow as readers while deepening their understanding of science concepts. Together, these resources will help my students learn to read and read to learn every day.
