My Project
Having a diverse and varied classroom library for my students to access has always been a point of pride for myself as an educator. We are looking to add more non-fiction choices to our library that include diverse characters and topics. This also includes a class set of "Free Lunch" to allow us more access to deep novel study of biographies.
Non-fiction does not always appeal to middle schoolers but by providing them access to a variety of topics and written formats, the hope is they will step outside of their comfort zone.
I chose these books with my students in mind and hope to encourage them to step into the experiences of people who are different then they are so they can be empathetic and open to new experiences.
