This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a sixth‑grade life‑science teacher passionate about helping my students explore the hidden world around us, but our classroom lacks the laboratory equipment we need to turn curiosity into discovery. With your support, I hope to provide each of my 110 students with hands‑on access to sturdy, LED‑illuminated microscopes and prepared slide kits featuring insects, plants, and animal tissues. These tools will empower every learner to investigate fundamental concepts—from cell structure and function to the intricate anatomy of leaves, wing scales, and muscle fibers—using real scientific methods.

Over the course of a three‑week lesson plan “Exploring the Microscopic World” students will master microscope operation, develop observational and measurement skills, and practice clear scientific communication through sketches, data tables, and lab reports.

Small‑group “jigsaw” investigations will strengthen collaboration and critical thinking, while cross‑curricular ties to math (measuring fields of view) and ELA (writing field journal entries) ensure a rich, interdisciplinary experience. Your generous donation will not only equip our classroom with essential tools but will also ignite a lifelong love of inquiry and empower each child to see—and understand—the marvels of life.
