This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help my class learn with Lakeshore Learning manipulatives and materials! Lakeshore has a new set of STEM Learning Bundles that are perfect for my young learners. With your help, my students will begin to understand science, engineering, math and technology concepts appropriate to their grade level.

Science and math are important core content areas that all students must study and learn.

With young learners, such as my transitional kindergarteners, it is important that tangible materials are used so that they can touch, visualize and make connections to the concepts they are learning. My 5 year olds are curious and smart, and they are eager to learn new things. Our school is a high poverty, Title One school in the San Fernando Valley. Our class is very diverse, and includes students with special needs and English Language Learners, as well as typical learning students.

My Project

I have requested Lakeshore Learning STEM materials, including a preschool STEM bundle. The hands-on kits included in the this STEM Bundle include engineering coasters, bridges and houses, and learning the principles behind ramps and water flow. They are designed for hands-on learning, which works best with this age group. This bundle was put together by Lakeshore specifically for DonorsChoose, and it includes many activities that will motivate youngsters and engage them in STEM learning. In addition to the STEM Bundle, I am requesting Lakeshore safety name tags to use when we are learning away from the classroom. These name tags will be useful when at the science and computer labs, as well as on field trips. The T in STEM stands for technology, and we need a little help with the technology resources in the classroom. Therefore, I am requesting a Lakeshore store and charge station for our classroom iPads. This station will keep the iPads safe, charged and in working order.

These resources will spark my students' curiosity and motivate them to learn science, technology, engineering and math concepts.
