Help me give my students sculpture supplies so they can make 3D art. Plaster wrap, wire mesh, moldable pulp, and wood turnings will give students a wide range of sculpture media.
Our school is a public magnet school. Students travel from all over town to attend our school. We are not without our struggles, especially when it comes to the school budget. Despite everything, though, our students achieve. Over 90% go on to college; 10% get full scholarships. Our students are diverse and revel in their differences. Groups of friends are multicultural. They are engaged and very bright. These great kids give me hope for the future. Teaching my students is so rewarding. I strive to help them become more creative.
Students in my International Baccalaureate visual art classes need sculpture media so we can open up the world of 3D media to them.
Our IB art program has grown from 3 students to 50 in the 2 year cohort. Students work to make art to be exhibited at the end of their senior year.
My Project
In our IB art class, students explore lots of media and techniques. In addition to ample 2D media that is available in the room, we need sculpture media so students can experiment with 3D. We use clay already, but we need wire, flexible mesh, plaster fabric, foam core, and more. Students will learn 3D skills and techniques, and produce resolved 3D artwork for their senior exhibitions.
By learning sculpture, students will find new means for personal expression.
Their creativity will advance to the next level. They will have a large selection of media to work with from this project request
Each student has different strengths in art class. Having a wide range of sculpture media available will encourage students to find their voices as artists.
