This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are special because they are ready to start creating school memories. They are energetic and ready to explore new things. What makes them special is their eagerness to learn and try new things. In all, what makes them really special is that I have a group of diverse learners, and I admire their ability to cooperate and work with each other.

My students come from a low socioeconomic community and exposing them to a variety of topics is not only my job, but my duty.

My Project

The Apple Macbook will be used every day in our science lessons to introduce topics and engage students. The upper grades have access to the computer lab and Chromebooks to practice for SBAC; however, my classroom has limited or no access to the technology. With the transition to Next Generation Science standards, students have been given larger, real-world problems that require technology at an earlier age.

Introducing students on how to use a keyboard to access information for positive use in kindergarten-first grade means that by upper grades, instructional time does not need to be spent on how to use the technology.

During these crucial years, the focus can be on learning strategies to solve problems.

Giving low income students access to new technology is an investment in their future. This laptop will allow students to tackle larger and more complex science topics which will prepare them for college-level work.
