This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a class full of energetic, curious and compassionate first-graders. My students love to explore, ask questions, read, play and dance. They are learning about community involvement and always find ways to brighten each others' day. They love helping and learning.
Our school is located near downtown Los Angeles, California.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am eager to provide my students with quality and equitable learning materials and opportunities. I look forward to promoting creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My Project
Our first grade team has created wonderful integrated units of study for our students which combine literacy, English Language Development, science, and math throughout the day. This field trip will support student learning in all areas, particularly science, as the museum provides a truly hands-on experience with life and physical science for kids. I want my students to have this opportunity to learn and grow.
Their visit to the museum will greatly impact their learning and be an experience from which all students can draw.
Each first grade class needs to raise funds in order to attend the field trip. The museum is incredibly interactive and geared towards hands-on learning. Students will remember this trip for a lifetime. Send our students to the Kidspace Children's Museum in order to support their science instruction!
