Exploring Science at Home

Help me give my students at home Science backpacks to explore and work hands on with materials at home.

My Students

My children have all been classified with autism. Children with autism learn differently. The majority of my children come from a low socioeconomic background, which puts them at risk of being disadvantaged and there has been significant stress with schooling from home and not having their "typical" routine.

I want my students to have the same educational advantages as other children, with the additional stress of being quarantined I'm hoping to make things a little bit easier for my families.

Every child has the right to learn, explore, and experience life to the best of their ability. As their teacher, I promise to advocate for my students to give them materials to allow them to learn the same skills as other children their age and complete their work from home.

Friday, March 13th we left school for what we thought was the weekend.

We haven't been back yet and continue distance learning. Through communication with my families, I realize my students are lacking materials they need at home for their parents to teach them their ABA skills. Please help if you can, I am so appreciative of the chance for my students to receive these materials.

My Project

These children are suffering. They were not prepared for what happened. We are trying hard to make the best of the worst situation. The supplies I am requesting will allow me to send home Science Backpacks with hands on materials so that my students' families will have what they need to learn and extend their science and math while learning at home.

I am requesting backpacks that I can rotate through the homes so all children will have availability to materials we had used at school to learn this curriculum. The various backpacks touch on topics such as fossils, life cycles, patterning, sorting etc. The lesson cards that come along in the kits give step by step directions on teaching and extending the lesson.
