My Project
I strive to give my students projects that are relevant to real-world experiences. For example, many students have observed their loved ones use finger sticks and blood glucose meters or a continuous glucose sensor to monitor their blood glucose throughout the day and take insulin to keep it within safe levels. My project will help students understand how people with diabetes deal with this chronic disease and how biomedical engineers and scientists are motivated to help people. In addition, this project will allow students to explore some of the complexities engineers and scientists face as they develop artificial pancreas technologies.
This funded project will provide the supplies for students to build a circuit that will model an artificial pancreas using an Arduino to turn insulin delivery on and off in response to blood glucose levels.
