My Project
I teach an incredible group of economically disadvantaged and special education students in Hawai‘i who thrive when given hands-on learning opportunities. Many of my students learn best through tactile engagement, and providing them with real-world connections to complex subjects makes a significant difference in their education.
The male gorilla skull replica will serve as a powerful tool for studying primate evolution, biological diversity, and comparative anatomy.
By examining the skull’s structure, students will explore the similarities and differences between gorillas and humans, deepening their understanding of evolutionary processes. This hands-on experience will encourage critical thinking and scientific inquiry, making abstract concepts more accessible and engaging for all learners.
My goal is to bridge learning gaps by offering high-quality, interactive resources that support student success. Special education students, in particular, benefit from tangible models that allow them to engage with the material in a meaningful way. This skull replica will help create an inclusive learning environment where all students—regardless of learning style—can explore anthropology in a way that resonates with them.
Every student deserves the opportunity to learn in a way that excites and inspires them. With your support, we can bring the study of primates and evolution to life in our classroom!
