Exploring Perspectives With Creative Character Masks
Help me give my students resources to create masks to show multiple sides to a character or themselves as they read literature & make connections.

My Project
This mask project is an opportunity for students to investigate characters in literature as well as themselves by creating a mask that demonstrates how others see them and how they see themself. Students will identify a variety of symbols to reinforce the unique attributes and experiences for their person.

Providing the masks for students will allow all students to access this project by eliminating the time, transportation and cost to acquire a mask. Instead they can focus on the actual learning about multiple perspectives and uncover how one person can be seen in a variety of different ways.
One key to developing a community and a since of belonging is empathy and to truly empathsize students must be able to see things from another person's point of view. This hands on project nudges students to explore characters in literature and/or themselves. In turn they develop empathy skills that can create belonging as well as avoiding conflicts with others.
