Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our day begins with all of us eating breakfast together. Many of my students have no idea about the world around us. Help us go on an adventure.
My students are from a low income neighborhood where everyone gets free breakfast and lunch.
Their experiences are very limited but they are so eager to learn. Our school is a safe and caring place where students are encouraged to excel and do their personal best.
My Project
My students would use these magazines during reading. We would use them to improve our understanding of nonfiction text. We would be able to read the many charts and graphs that are included in each issue. Students would get to each keep a copy which would allow them to read more at home.
My students come from very little.
They get excited when I let them take a book home for the night. They would be ecstatic to have these magazines to keep. It would allow us to have rich discussions in our classroom. These magazines would provide my children with a glimpse of the outside world which, I hope, will inspire them to have big dreams.
More than half of students from low‑income households
