Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My preschool students are children who are three to five years of age. My school is in sunny San Pedro, California where children come to school each morning ready to learn and grow! There's never a dull moment in our class. My students are busy bees moving from one interest area to another. They're eager to learn, explore, engage and experiment with the instructional materials and centers I set up for them. We need more instructional materials for the children to engage with, materials that will foster their interest in technology, literacy, math, science, art and engineering. Every single one of my students deserves a fair chance at having his or her potential nurtured and fully developed. My little ones have an insatiable curiosity, that's why it's important for me to have a class with a variety of instructional materials to meet their educational needs.

My Project

The Exploring Other Countries photo book series set will give my students an up close look at other people's traditions, landforms, and animals, fostering their appreciation and respect toward others. Furthermore, the Cultures of the World theme book library set, will help teach my students multicultural awareness, they will be able to see beautiful illustrations and pictures of a variety of people and their culture, helping them understand that everyone has different backgrounds and cultures and how unique everyone is.

The Sign Language Alphabet tiles will help my students discover sign language, fostering an awareness and understanding of the deaf and hard of hearing community.

These tiles will also, help my students learn the alphabet letters.

The Ezra Jack Keats books, The Snowy Day and Whistle for Willie are picture books for young children that portray a realistic, multi-cultural urban setting. My students will enjoy these Caldecott Award-winning books and benefit by being exposed to a variety of literature.
