Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a low-income/high poverty school district.I teach a Physical Science class of eleven nine graders. The students of that Physical Science class are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. All my students have specific learning disabilities. Despite the challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. My students will learn better if they are provided with opportunities to do hands on activities.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning by deepen their understanding and knowledge of science concepts. By using Exploring Light and Optics Kit, the students will investigate optical instruments such as lenses, mirrors, and prisms. By using Exploring Sound Waves, the students will investigate Sound how is created and transmitted, and the interaction of sound waves.
These investigations will help the students to study, explore, and become familiar with science concepts related to optics and sound as well as to make connections with these applications in laser industry and medicine.
My students will benefit of conducting investigations in the physical science class since these way they will making connections between science concepts and how those concepts are applied in laser industry and medicine.
Knowing that in the science class they will be doing hands on activities will make the students not only happy but more engage in the class leading towards to improve their achievement and success in the classroom and making the difference in their school lives.
