Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The specific items we re requesting will help students learn about Mexican Culture and traditional artisan goods from the states of Oaxaca and Guanajuato. Students will learn about the history and tradition of repujado and have the opportunity to emboss pre drawn designs or create their own individual cultural design to display as an ornament or talisman.
Our goals are for the students to feel connected to Latin American Culture, to take interest in a new art form that is almost fail proof.
To build dexterity and confidence through the process of embossing and to have a beautiful piece of art to gift or sell at our international day market.
Our students are special because the majority of them are 1st generation, English learners, from immigrant and refugee families. The are able to learn about history, geography, traditional indigenous arts, and stay connected to their culture through the process of art.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
