Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach P.E. and Art at a low-income charter school in downtown. My students range from Kindergarten through 5th grade and are bilingual.
We live in a gorgeous city, located right in the heart of downtown, a beautiful opportunity for art all over! My students are ready and willing to walk anywhere in this gorgeous city and start sketching, the only problem...a little bit of discouragement. The last walking field trip we took where my students sketched the buildings of downtown they did so on a book. Their pages flew away, they had texturing from the books, and to top it off their papers were larger than the books.
My students desperately need art sketchboards. They truly believe they are artists and they deserve the materials real artists use. With these sketchboards, my students will not have to worry about any other outside element other than producing the best art they are capable of.
With these sketchboards I will be able to take my students anywhere and they will be able to produce their art comfortably. The greatest things about these sketchboards is that they can be used in their easels for paining, they can make art more accessible and it will empower them to think like real artists.
