My Students
A typical day in my classroom is all about learning, exploring, creating and experiencing! Many of my students are thirsty for information and spend much of their day researching, reading and exploring. We spend a good amount time reading books together that are meaningful and awe-inspiring. Giving children books to have in hand, bring about a responsibility and love for reading you can't find online. We hope that this type of experience will make the learning more meaningful.
Our fifth graders are students who yearn to learn.
They are bright and continually researching information for not only class projects, but for pure enjoyment. They like to stay connected and love to read books on real life information that can give them a wealth of knowledge. Our school is full of children who continually look for ways to extend their learning and who love to experience new situations and learn about real life.
My Project
Being able to read each of these books with my students and comparing their experiences is everything. I want my students to be able to feel the tenacity and courage of these girls who are their own age, while enjoying great literature. Keeping my students engaged with literature is such a wonderful way to connect on a different level with their peers. Discussions in literature bring about so many connections to their own lives and they are able to share experiences while making these connections.
By donating to this project, you are giving my student's the ability to hold a book in their hand instead of a computer is such a soothing and controlled experience that many students do not get today.
I look forward to being able to read these stories with my students, and to gain more insight to how they connect and relate to the girls in these stories.
