Exploring Earth Science: Oil Spills and Conservation Labs
Help me give my students labs on oil spills and environmental impact, fostering STEM learning and real-world problem-solving. Help bring science to life!
My students are curious, hands-on learners who thrive when exploring real-world science concepts. They’ve requested engaging Earth science labs, including an oil spill cleanup experiment, to better understand the impact of pollution on our environment.
With gloves, vegetable oil, pipettes, cotton balls, Dawn dish soap, sponges, paper towels, kitty litter, and other safety materials, my students will conduct experiments that simulate real environmental challenges.
They'll explore how oil spills affect wildlife and ecosystems, then test and analyze different cleanup strategies. These labs will build their critical thinking, collaboration, and engineering skills.
My goal is to ignite a love for STEM by offering meaningful, hands-on experiences that bring science to life. These activities will help students develop scientific literacy while empowering them to think like problem-solvers and innovators.
What makes my students special is their resilience, curiosity, and drive to learn. They ask thoughtful questions, push boundaries, and care deeply about making positive changes in their communities.
