My Project

As a 7th-grade English teacher, I strive to provide my students with engaging and thought-provoking literature that not only builds their reading comprehension skills but also encourages them to think critically about the world around them. After successfully exploring Lois Lowry's The Giver, my students are primed to delve deeper into the rich and relevant genre of dystopian fiction through dedicated book clubs. This project seeks funding to acquire a diverse collection of age-appropriate dystopian novels for my 7th-grade English class. These books will form the foundation of our upcoming book club units, allowing students to choose texts that resonate with their interests while exploring universal themes pertinent to their lives.

Dystopian literature offers a unique and powerful lens through which young readers can develop essential academic and life skills.

These books are far more than just exciting stories; they are catalysts for deep learning.

By providing these dystopian novels, we will empower our 7th graders to become more critical thinkers, more empathetic citizens, and more confident readers. They will not only expand their literary horizons but also gain valuable insights into the human condition and the importance of preserving freedom and individuality. This project will transform our English classroom into a vibrant hub of discussion, debate, and discovery.
