My Students
Hi my name is Ms. Alyssa and I am a speech pathologist in a D75 school for children with special needs (specifically Autism) in Brooklyn, NY. My students are amazing and have been doing the best they can with this difficult situation of getting back to in-person learning with safety restrictions this school year. They benefit from daily routines, sensory diets, and social interactions with their peers.
My students have difficulty with their expressive language, receptive language, social/pragmatic skills, and feeding skills.
They benefit from hands-on learning that include adapted books to work on a variety of speech and language goals. We also work on activities of daily living skills and creative ways to engage students to learn! My students are so deserving of having the opportunity to materials and su can have for years to come!
My Project
Each week we have a cultural social routine that focuses on learning new vocabulary, a song, a craft, and cooking a recipe to celebrate a seasonal tradition from each of my students cultures. With a cricut explore machine my students and I will be able to make decorations for our celebration as well as crafts to represent the cultural tradition of the week. It will help them work on their fine motor skills to be able to use the tools to create the crafts.
My students have social/pragmatic issues and a social routine helps them to work on their skills to have interactions with their peers in a fun and natural way!
We are looking forward to exploring, learning, and creating all year long with the help from a cricut explore machine. Help me give me students a new way to engage in their learning!
