This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Each year we host a district wide STEM and Computer Science Olympiad for our 3rd -6th grade students. Each school selects seven students from each grade to represent them. Each school helps prep the kids ahead of time with in class activities and after school clubs. This has been a running event for the last 24 years. One of the specific events at the olympiad is a block coding event. To do this we use Evo Ozobots.

For this year's event we would like to use the new Ozobot Mission to Mars challenge mats; a fun, interactive manipulative that can help bring a real world event to these elementary students.

Each team will get a mat and an Ozobot and be tasked with collecting different "Mars Rocks" and taking them to their "Home Base". We are asking for four mats, one for each team that will be participating at one time. The schools will also be able to check out the mats, through our library system, prior to the event to offer practice opportunities for the students. This is always a fun event for our students and I hope you will be willing to support us with this new item.
