Exploring Civil Rights

My students need books about civil rights and a book shelf to display these books.

My Students

Churchill once said "Those who fail to learn history are doomed to repeat it." I believe that through the study of civil rights, my students will learn the importance of respect and equality for others.

My students attend a Title 1 school in a rural area in North Carolina.

My students work hard on a daily basis and have a positive attitude toward learning. My students love to learn and are very curious about historical events. My students are very inquisitive and are constantly trying to put the pieces of history together.

My Project

I am requesting biographies on civil rights leaders. My hope is to create a diverse classroom library, so my students can read, explore, and learn about the fight for equality. My students will use the books as a research tool for a research project on a civil rights leader of their choice. I am also requesting an inviting book shelf to showcase these books.
