Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My transitional kindergarten students come to school eager and ready to learn everyday. Every morning I ask them, "TK students are you ready." They reply by saying, "Yes we're ready." By having these manipulative's, my students will have an opportunity to learn and explore during center time.

My students are in transitional kindergarten which means they are in their first year of a two year kindergarten program.

For most of my students, this is their first schooling experience. My young students are very active and energetic learners. They enjoy center time because it allows them to use different manipulative's to explore with. My students attend a Title One School and come from a low social-economic background. All the students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our school population is composed of 98% Latino students and have a high percentage of English Language Learners.

My Project

My students will have the opportunity to acquire so many learning skills with the use of all these manipulative's and games. These resources would not only help them build their academic skills, but just as importantly, their social skills and their fine motor skills. With these resources my students will also build rich vocabulary through play with their peers. My students will be able to sort items by color, size and shapes on a board. The puzzles will help students by allowing them to put the pieces together and feel successful when they see it complete. All the manipulative's will help my students with their fine motor skills as well as using their imagination to build things.

These resources would make a great difference in our classroom.

The use of manipulative's will help in building social skills and fine motor skills. Learning through the use of fun and inviting resources will help these young students acquire a greater love for school and learning.
