My Students
I feel like I work at one of the best schools in North Carolina. I love the children that I encounter on a daily basis and all the great things that they do. I have switched to teaching IB History of Americas this school year and I am excited because this is a two year course that allows me to build long-lasting relationships.
My Project
I am teaching African American Studies at a majority African American population high school. One of the themes that we will be discussing is identity and what that looks like for people who identify as Black or African-American. I plan to have in depth discusses with my students via zoom and discussion boards. I am excited to use this book because it is a volume of multiple short stories by Black Authors that discusses different parts of one's identity. I know that as a high school teacher, my students are understanding what their identity is and how their race plays a role in that.
