My students need hands-on science exploration materials to engage and further their interest and knowledge of a variety of animal species, and an electric pencil sharpener to help record their findings in writing.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students enjoy science exploration and hands on activities especially dealing with a variety of animals. Their thirst for knowledge includes diagrams of animals, knowing about how animals live and explore their unique qualities and characteristics.
My students are very curious kindergarten students who enjoy learning about the world around them and often have questions about an animal's unique features.
All of my 24 students have definite opinions on what their favorite animals are. Because they are kindergarten students exposure to different animals and their lives is essential so that they know, or become more familiar and connect with the world around them. Also, my students live close to a major city and would not otherwise have access to observe animals from different habitats but through gaining access through using hands on materials such as in this science kit.
My school is located south of a major city in the United States and it is a Title 1 school in a neighborhood with low income housing. My school was also privileged last year to have donations and open an urban garden where access to plant life is can be explored during science. A compliment to this would be wild life exploration and their characteristics.
My Project
In order to explore more about their Amazing Animals unit in school they would be thrilled to not only diagram an animal, but be able to see specimen in association with the different wildlife. Their motor sensory skills will help students better interpret these animals' characteristics and learn more interesting facts about them with the use of the kit, so that this in turn will help my students want to write about their explorations in their science journals. This would bring the unit of study come to life for them. They would be able to investigate 5 amazing specimens from sea life, reptile, insect, and mammal life.
This project donation will help improve my students' motivation.
It would also inspire them to write and draw and diagram the animals being studied and learn more about why they had to develop their characteristics so that they may survive in their habitats.
