Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Later this school year, students will engage in an ERWC unit related to the Civil Rights Movement in which we explore different narratives and experiences related to this pivotal moment in history. While many of my high school students have been exposed to significant civil rights leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks, they have not encountered stories like that of John Lewis.
This book presents a new perspective on the civil rights unit and allows students to learn about a different perspective from this historical moment in our history.
